LGBTQIA+ Affirming Therapy

Individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, gender non-conforming, queer, intersex, questioning, and/or asexual often experience unique challenges, including minority stress and higher rates of mental health difficulties. Whether you are seeking therapy to navigate your identity or to address mental health concerns, I am here to provide support grounded in cultural humility and social justice. Some areas of exploration in therapy may include:

  • Building self-esteem, confidence, and self-acceptance.

  • Exploring your sexual orientation and gender identity.

  • Processing experiences of discrimination, stigma, or oppression.

  • Managing symptoms of depression, anxiety, or trauma related to your identity.

  • Improving body image.

  • Dismantling internalized shame or stigma.

  • Finding community and connection.

  • Navigating relationship dynamics, including non-monogamy, kink, and BDSM.

  • Considering gender-affirming interventions.

I approach LGBTQIA+ affirming therapy with warmth, vulnerability, and curiosity. As a queer woman, I deeply empathize with the broad spectrum of sexual and gender identities. I create a non-judgmental, trusting environment where you can safely explore your experiences and challenges.

During my clinical training, including my predoctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship at Kaiser, I supported many individuals with diverse gender and sexual identities. I worked through a health psychology lens, assisting patients with gender-affirming interventions and helping them address the intersectionality of eating disorders, sexuality, and identity.

If you're interested in exploring any of these areas, I encourage you to reach out.
