Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Trauma has a way of lingering long after the experience has ended and can have a debilitating impact on people’s lives. Though the physical and emotional impacts of trauma are highly complex, here are some signs you may be struggling:

  • Chronic feelings of sadness, fear, hopelessness, anger or shame.

  • Feeling detached or dissociated from yourself or others.

  • Having recurrent intrusive memories or nightmares about your trauma.

  • Believing that you’re worthless or unlovable, or that no one can be trusted.

  • Avoiding anything or anyone that reminds you of your trauma.

  • Having difficulties regulating your mood, with frequent anger outbursts, irritability or crying.

  • Managing physical concerns, such as chronic pain, dizziness, insomnia, headaches or exhaustion.

  • Harming yourself with impulsive behaviors, substance abuse or self-harm.

  • Experiencing persistent problems in your relationships with others.

  • Facing other co-occurring difficulties such as depression.

I approach PTSD treatment from a lens of compassion, empowerment, and openness. While you navigate healing, my goals are to help you not just to overcome your trauma symptoms, but to support you in finding a sense of empowerment, inner wisdom and wholeness. Together we will help you first develop your inner resources, increase your self-esteem and improve your mood. Next, when you’re feeling ready, we will utilize evidence-based trauma treatments to help you overcome your symptoms and finally move forward in life with a sense of safety and inner peace. We may utilize one of the following evidence-based treatments: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), Written Exposure Therapy (WET), or Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART).

I have extensive experience in the treatment of trauma disorders. I received excellent training at a trauma-focused clinic while in graduate school and, since that time, have provided brief and long-term trauma-informed treatment for my patients while working in various hospital settings. I am comfortable working with all forms of trauma and any associated complexities. I welcome you to begin this healing journey with me.
